What We Are All About

Your Authentic Irish Bar on Quay Street

About M. Fitzgerald’s

At M. Fitzgerald’s, nestled in the vibrant heart of Galway City’s Latin Quarter, we embody the true essence of Galway hospitality and take pride in being a lively and inviting Irish bar in the heart of Galway City.

You’ll find us on Quay Street at the corner where it meets Kirwan’s Lane, so there’s a lot of history behind us – in fact, there’s even an original medieval wall inside our bar. But we’ll always go above and beyond to focus on the present and create a bit of craic, something that’s in plentiful supply for everyone who visits M. Fitzgerald’s.

Join us, where every pint tells a story, and every visitor becomes part of our cherished tapestry of memories.

Enjoy the craic agus ceoil well into the weekend with late bar on Saturday & Sunday’s until 2am.

Our Chosen Charity Partner

We are proud to announce our chosen charity partner for 2024 is COPE Galway.

COPE Galway provides essential services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, including homelessness support, domestic abuse services, and assistance for older people.

Join us in supporting this incredible organization through various events and initiatives throughout the year.

Keep your eyes peeled for our next fundraiser event where you can help make a difference.

M. Fitzgerald’s is a Great Place to Work!

M. Fitzgerald’s is a certified Great Place to Work!

We’re proud to be part of the Connacht Hospitality Group, which has been awarded the Great Place to Work certification, recognising our dedication to creating a supportive and rewarding workplace. This achievement is all thanks to our fantastic team, whose hard work and hospitality bring M. Fitzgerald’s to life every day. We’re grateful to have such a passionate crew behind the bar and in the kitchen.

The team of M. Fitzgerald’s Traditional Irish Bar proudly stands outside the pub, holding a "Great Place to Work" certification sign for Ireland (Oct 2024 - Oct 2025). The group, dressed in black uniforms, smiles in front of the bar’s rustic stone façade and maroon awning. Warm lighting from inside the pub adds to the inviting atmosphere.

Pop in and see for yourself what makes us who we are.

Our traditional feel is in our décor, food, and drinks. But we also know a fancy cocktail often goes down as well as a good old pint, so make your way up to the Penny bar for the best cocktails in Galway.

And that’s it – if you’re looking for an authentic Galway bar with a dash of divilment that knows its “loveens” and its “soakage” as well as what’s meant by “just the one” – do yourself a favour and pop into M. Fitzgerald’s.
