A Taste of Tradition

Our menu is a homage to Irish culinary classics. From hearty seafood chowder served with rustic soda bread to innovative takes on traditional dishes, every bite is crafted with care. Everything we plate up is made fresh in-house, with produce sourced from local suppliers we know and trust. Pair your meal with a selection from our curated list of stouts, whiskeys, and craft beers.

A beautifully plated seafood pasta dish featuring mussels, shrimp, and squid in a rich, flavorful sauce, served over thick noodles. The dish is garnished with fresh herbs and presented on a textured blue ceramic plate, set on a wooden table in a warm, inviting dining setting.
A lively crowd at a pub enjoying a live music performance. A musician wearing a pink cap and glasses plays an acoustic guitar and sings into the microphone, while the audience enthusiastically sings along, dances, and raises their hands. The warmly lit pub features wooden shelves stocked with bottles, and a "Stop Bar Taxi" sign hangs above, adding to the energetic and vibrant atmosphere.

MUSIC

Live Music, Nightly

Real music, played live, every night of the week.

From trad bangers to guilty pleasures, we keep the good times rolling and the craic full tilt. Weekends turn it up a notch, with Galway’s best keeping the energy high and the pints flowing late.

The soundtrack? Mostly Irish. The vibe? Pure magic.

Drinks That Speak for Themselves

Our drinks menu is built around bold Irish spirits, local ingredients, and a touch of creative rebellion. Whether it’s the poetic hit of Barry’s Tea syrup in The Poet’s Measure, or the sweet nostalgia of Bella’s Breakfast Martini these aren’t just drinks. They’re moments. Served neat.

Whether you’re celebrating or out for a quiet few, we’ll match your mood with something that tastes like it was made for it.

A lively group of friends gathered around a wooden table at Penny Bar, enjoying drinks and cheering while watching a sports match. The pub's warm interior features wooden paneling, shelves stocked with bottles, and a glowing "Penny Bar" sign above the bar area. Pints of beer and plates of food are on the table, adding to the energetic and social atmosphere.

Featured in Bridgerton’s Galway Visit

We’re honored to have been showcased in a special Netflix feature with ‘Bridgerton’ stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton. Their visit highlighted the authentic Irish hospitality and vibrant atmosphere that M. Fitzgerald’s is known for.

During their visit to Galway, Nicola and Luke, who play Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, spent time at our Penny Bar, very fitting!

Nicola loved being back in her hometown, and the crew was a joy to work with. Alan Broderick, our manager, shared, “The video is a beautiful tribute to ‘Bridgerton’ and Galway. We’re proud to have been part of this moment and hope it brings fans from around the world to our city.”

Great Irish Bar! Went on a Sunday night with a group of mates from Australia and we had fun dancing, laughing and drinking to live music. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Bar staff were nice and just let us enjoy ourselves. Top craic!

This was a welcoming place to sit down with a pint of Guinness. We also had a pint of Galway H Irish pale ale. Very citrusy and refreshing. Made to feel very welcomed sitting at the bar. Great live musical performance by a singer and accompanying guitar player to keep the place alive. Didn't have any of the food, therefore, couldn't rate it.

Wonderful atmosphere since the building itself is very old and it's part of the ancient Galway city walls.Breakfast option was very good, only thing I asked for Poached eggs but they served me scrumbled ones. I didn't want to "bother" and ask to replace the item.. so I ate that without problems. Beers and Irish coffee was also good!
